Light Logics inks Co-operation with STX Aprilis, USA

Light Logics Holography and Optics, Technopark and STX Aprilis, USA have inked agreement of co-operation on next generation holographic materials and devices. STX Aprilis is the global leader in holographic high density data storage and holographic photopolymer material, popularly known as the silicon of photonics.  Aprilis is now based in the same building where the historic American company Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) existed.  In a function held at Maynard, Boston, on January 18, 2010, Dr. Ajith Kumar, President and Leading Specialist, Light Logics, Mr. Heonsoo Rhee, CEO and President, STX Aprilis and Dr. David Waldman, Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President, STX Aprilis exchanged documents of cooperation. The STX group of companies functions in avenues of shipping, shipbuilding, construction and energy and is a globally leading company with a turnover of over 12 billion.

Light Logics is a holography business initiative of a set of non-resident Indians in USA, UK, Japan and the UAE, spearheaded by Dr. Ajith Kumar, a scientist turned entrepreneur. In a statement released at Boston, the Companies opined that cooperation of both the Companies is a great step forward towards the joint goal of global business development through cost effective production of cutting edge holography products of international relevance. 

Light Logics, an incubatee of Technopark TBI is actively supported by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India and the Company is adorned with the ISBA 2009 National award for the best Indian Engineering and Production Company.

Akros Signs in as T-TBI incubatee

Sid Prasanna is the CEO of Akros LLC. Mr. Sunil Belani will be MD of the Indian entity and Mr Chander Pratap will be the Chief Technical Officer.  Akros will operate out of  Nila building inside Technopark.

Akros is a technology solutions company, focused on developing and marketing cutting- edge solutions for the global mobile technologies industry. They have recently signed an agreement with Religare Technova IT Services Ltd as a Value Added Reseller of Akros’ “CNBSignln Two Factor Authentication product in the Indian, US, European, Middle East and Asia Pacific markets.

CERTES, the virtual incubatee of T-TBI, launched their fourth product ASIS- a novel entrance training software. ASIS is the acronym for Automatic Surveying Invigilation Scheme which act as a website that works offline from the CD. The first product has been delivered to Mr. Rajesh. P., Manager cum representative of SYSMANTECH and HCL Systems by Mr. Sujith Kumar M.K., project manager for software solutions in CERTES. SYSMANTECH also received the dealership rights for ASIS. CERTES CEO Bobin Paul , MD Mr. Abhilash Jhonny, CFO Mr. Arun S Praveen, CTO Mr. Vishnu V Nath and CMO Mr. Nithin Gopal were also present in the function. Certes is a student company that came out of Matha College , North Paravur and is presently working as virtual incubatee of Technopark  TBI.

Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) Inaugurated at Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology

The IEDC was inaugurated by Mr.Mervin Alexander, CEO Technopark by lighting the lamp. The inaugural function was presided over by Dr.T.M.George, Principal. Mr.K.C.Chandrasekharan Nair, CFO, Technopark and Programme Coordinator-New Initiatives, Technopark and Registrar, Technopark TBI delivered the keynote address. Rev.Fr. John Thundiyath, Bursar and Mr.Sreejith. S, Technical Officer, Technopark TBI  also attended the function.

Addressing the students Mr.Mervin Alexander said that the IEDC will act as a catalyst to create entrepreneurial ventures from the college and the major objective is to promote Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the campus and also to exploit and effectively convert the skills and expertise within the institute to create entrepreneurial ventures. He also urged the faculties to make use of the facility and come forward with innovations with commercial potential.

In the keynote address Mr.K.C.Chandrasekharan Nair, CFO Technopark pointed out that “Technopark, through the Technology Business Incubation initiatives, is creating an ecosystem and a fertile ground that promotes the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship throughout the state.

Rev.Fr. John Thundiyath, Bursar pointed out that IEDC shall be a source of motivation to the students to dream and set their goals higher. He pointed out the examples of startup entrepreneurs from the college.

Student startups from the college by Mr.Aravind, CEO, Enythin Technologies, who will be working out of the college IEDC as a virtual incubatee of Technopark TBI and Mr. Gokul Nath who participated with his sports innovator competition of NEO sports made their company presentations.

Dr.T.M.George, Principal in his Welcome speech assured that “The Entrepreneurship Development activities of the College shall offer all sorts of support to spot & transform the innovative ideas among the Students into marketable products”.

Catalyz Scientific Technologies , virtual incubatee of Technopark TBI working out of  Garden City College Bangalore won the award for the best start up company in Biotech area for the year 2009. The award will be handed over during ISBA 2010 during Feb 8-10, 2010 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

DSIR’s TePP Exhibition was adjudged as the most Innovative in ‘Pride of India’ expo during 97th Indian Science Congress

DSIR’s TePP Exhibition bagged the ISC Award for “Most Innovative” among the Exhibits in the ‘Pride of India Exhibition’ organized in association with the 97th Indian Science Congress (ISC) from January 3-7, 2010 at University of Kerala, Kariavattom, Trivandrum. The award was received by Shri.Pratap Sigh, Scientist, DSIR during the valedictory function on January 7, 2010.  The Pride of India- TePP Innovators Exhibition was co-ordinated by Technopark TUC

The‘Pride of India Exhibition’ was inaugurated by Shri. Prithviraj Chauhan after the ISC inaugural ceremony.  Personalities like Prof. Samir K Brahmachari, Secretary DSIR, Mr. Anuj Sinha, Advisor & Head (NCSTC) National Council for Science & Technology Communication, Mr.Veera Raghavan, Director VSSC, other eminent scientists from Regional Cancer Centre, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB), various Technology Angels and Business Angels of Technopark TUC, students, entrepreneurs, researches and other public  also visited the TePP DSIR stalls.  Technopark TUC received more than 70 enquiries from various fields.

Indian Science Congress 2010 hosts TePP Exhibition

TePP , DSIR  is participating in ‘Pride of India exhibition’ during the Indian Science Congress(ISC) at Trivandrum from Jan 3-7 , 2010. During the event Innovators from TePP Outreach Centres across the country will exhibit their innovations in the Exhibition Stalls. Technopark TUC will be co-ordinating the exhibition in Trivandrum  for TePP , DSIR .

This is the first time Trivandrum hosts the Science congress.

Dr. A.S. Rao, former advisor, TePP, DSIR, has called for positive intervention by State as well as non-State players to ensure an entrepreneur-friendly system. 

 Delivering the inaugural address at the launch of Innovation Lab, aimed at promoting and nurturing entrepreneurship on Dec 15, 2009 at Kochi, Dr. Rao said that everyone should be given an equal opportunity and this will ensure that no bright ideas go untapped. He said that the fear of failure is the stumbling block in the creation of entrepreneurs. Dr. Rao reminded that in entrepreneurship there was no failure but a series of learning and urged youngsters not to be afraid of failure.

Delivering the presidential address, Mr. Mervin Alexander, CEO Technopark, said that if India were to sustain its leadership in the IT sector in the face of stiff competition from other countries that are offering cheaper service, it would need to focus on innovation and research. He said that the State government was promoting research in IT by offering fellowships under its Speed IT programme. The programme aimed at college students was launched in the last academic year. The objective was to assist students pursuing their Master’s degree or Ph.D. in projects relevant to information technology.  

“Technopark is playing the role of facilitator in organising interaction with the academia and the industry as part of this programme,” Mr. Alexander said. He expressed disappointment in discussions he had with the industry lamenting that even the top names were not interested in research and innovation but was more interested in “at the moment advantages”. He reminded that erasing failures was important for the start-ups as it would enable them to start afresh.  

Yathish G , Initiatives and Product Forum, NASSCOM; Arifa Khan, Founder and CEO, Genius Incubator; and Kris Nair, Executive Director, Opdrage Venture Partners offered felicitations. K.C. Chandrashekharan Nair, Registrar, Technopark TBI  welcomed the gathering, and Arun Balachandran, CEO Innovation Lab  proposed the vote of thanks.The programme progressed with various session on entrepreneurship by eminent personalities like Dr. Rao, Mr.Yathish, Mr.Mervin Alexander on topics like Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Support offered by NASSCOM to Start up companies and Experience in Promoting Technopark TBI. The session ended with experience sharing by Mr. Sanjay Vijayakumar, CEO, MobME, a succesfully graduated incubatee of T-TBI
