IEDC Inaugurated at Nehru Arts and Science College Coimbatore

An Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre has been formally inaugurated at Nehru Arts and Science College, Coimbatore on 17th August, 2010 in the College Auditorium with the support of Technopark.
Technopark TBI shall be extending all sorts of support to the College for co-ordinating the effective conduct of the Entrepreneurship Development Activities. The E-learning courses offered by T-TBI will be administered to the college students through the portal http://www.ttbi.smartguruji.com
The IEDC was inaugurated by Mr.K.C Chandrasekharan Nair, CFO & Programme Coordinator-New Initiatives Technopark by lighting the lamp. The inaugural function was presided over by Adv.P.Krishna Das, Managing Trustee, Nehru Group of Institutions. Mr.Arun Balachandran, CEO, Innovation Lab- Kochi was the Guest of Honour and Dr.P.Krishna Kumar, CEO & Secretary, Nehru Group of Institutions felicitated the gathering. Dr.B.Anirudhan, Principal, Nehru Arts & Science College also attended the inaugural ceremony and enlightened them with entrepreneurial thoughts.
Inaugurating the IEDC Mr. K.C Chandrasekharan Nair said that “ the major objective of forming the IEDC is to promote Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the campus by creating a conducive ecosystem and a fertile ground to promote the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. He said that more than 90% of the students studying in the college are from Kerala and we find it very encouraging to fill the incubation space inside the campus with the student start ups emerging out of the college IEDC”. He assured that Technopark TBI shall be offering all essential support needed for the Entrepreneurship Development (ED) activities of the college including Faculty Development programmes (FDP) and in conducting Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps (EAC) by organizing Workshops and Seminars in this regard.
Adv. P. Krishna Das pointed out that “We are proud of the fact that we have started an IEDC recognized by Technopark TBI and the initiative of establishing an EDC in AJCE with the support of Technopark shall be a source motivation to the Students to dream and set their goals higher. He pointed out the examples of many successful entrepreneurs who built their empire from no where”.
The Principal, Dr. B. Anirudhan, welcome the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and the gathering. In his welcome address he briefed about the activities in IEDC in the college. He encouraged young entrepreneurs and motivated students to think innovatively.
Dr. P. Krishna Kumar, CEO & Secretary, Nehru Group of Institutions in his Presidential Address expressed his happiness towards the initiation of the Centre. He encouraged the students to use the Centre extensively and get benefitted. He told that every individual should become entrepreneurs in the future and stressed that everybody should become employers rather than employees.
Guest of Honor, Mr. Arun Balachandran, CEO, Innovation Lab, Cochin in his Special Address, shared his experience as an entrepreneur and the hurdles that he faced. He felt that IEDC would be a real boon for the upcoming entrepreneurs. He clearly differentiated between innovation and invention for which he told that innovation is simple as much as simple as possible. He also that during the process of innovation there would be many failures but ultimately failure is the stepping stone for success
Technopark-TBI aims to identify potential entrepreneurs with innovative ideas through these IEDC’s in colleges, nurture them through different phases of growth, until the business takes off to a maturity level, where it becomes a financially sustainable Venture.

TSECC Training Programme on Software Engineering Best Practices and Principles Held

Technopark Software Engineering Competency Centre (TSECC) the Software Engineering arm of Technopark TBI in association with SE Mentor and National Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (NCIIE) organised a training programme, the fifth of the series on Software Engineering – Best Practices and Principles at Technopark on July 27-28, 2010.
The two day programme targeted at companies in Incubation and other Microenterprises in the IT Sector and focussed on the Software Engineering fundamentals with open source tools to evangelize the best practices and principles of software development to the software development community so as to make software development more predictable. Process Engineers, Project Managers, CEOs, CTOs and Software Professionals participated in the training.
The two day training programme was formally inaugurated by Mr. Mervin Alexander, CEO- Technopark. Mr. K.C.Chandrasekharan Nair, Secretary and Registrar, T-TBI and Mr.Boby Varghese, Director, SE Mentor were present during the inauguration. “Training Programmes like this will help to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical implementation of the best practices of software development through Rational’s software engineering tools and the expertise of the Rational certified instructors at SE Mentor” said Mr. Mervin inaugurating the training programme.
Session on “Explore Sweden : New Business Opportunities” at Technopark on August 13, 2010

The fifth INSPIRE Session was held on August 13, 2010 at Cochin Hall, Park Centre, Technopark. The topic was “Explore Sweden: New Business Opportunities”. Mr. Srikant Illuri, Executive Director & Country Head, Invest in Sweden addressed the participants about the Economic & Business Overview on Sweden. Mr. Vineet Garg, Business Unit Head- ICT, Invest in Sweden discussed about the ICT Opportunities in Sweden – Joint Venture Projects, Joint Technology Development Projects, Greenfiled Projects & Mergers and Acquistions
The INSPIRE session was organised by the Group of Technology Companies (GTECH) in association with Technopark TBI. Mr. Mervin Alexander, CEO- Technopark, Mr. Anoop P Ambika, Secretary, GTECH & MD, Kreara Solutions , Mr.Harikumar, CEO,Travancore Analytics and Mr. Binu Sankar,CEO, GTECH were present during the session. CEOs from MSME’s inside the Technopark campus held fruitful discussions with the Swedish guests on New Business and investment opportunities in Sweden.
Sasthra University of Thanjavur wins the coveted TechTop 2010
August 2, 2010 at 1:14 pm | Posted in General | 2 CommentsThanjavur based Sasthra University bagged the first prize – Degree C Award of Rupees One Lakh for its project ‘Production of Nano-carbon sheets from the exhaust pipes in Industries’ at TechTop 2010. The second prize comprising of Rs.50, 000 sponsored by National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) was won by Jaipur Engineering College for its Universal Mobile Automation System project. The third prize of Rs.30, 000 sponsored by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) has been given to Cape Institute of Technology from Tirunelveli for their project – ‘The Dark NET – an initiative to furnish remote areas with internet facility.
The prizes were given away by Dr.P Prabakaran, IAS, – Chief Secretary to Government of Kerala at the awards ceremony of TechTop 2010 held at Technopark.
The fifth edition of the most sought after event by engineering students across the country: ‘TechTop 2010 – National Innovation Contest in Engineering’ was held at Technopark during July 30-31, 2010. 19 finalists from 7 states contested for the coveted recognition and showcased some pathbreaking prototypes at the exhibition.
Presenting on the winners, Prof V K Damodaran, Director General, INGCORE & UNIDO International Energy Consultant said, “Judging the 19 prototypes presented was very challenging for the jury because all the projects exhibited here were very interesting”. On behalf of the jury he said that this event has brought in some great young minds to present such pathbreaking projects.”
The most innovative projects with commercial viability selected after the final screening are eligible for incubation support from Technopark Technology Business Incubator (T-TBI), where an opportunity is given to convert innovative ideas into a commercial ventures.
