International Award for T-TBI

Technopark TBI won the Award for the 2^nd ‘Best New Science-Based Incubator 2011′ Category instituted by Technopolicy Network and the Centre for Strategy and Evaluation Services (CSES), UK. The award was announced during the 10^th Annual Incubation Conference held on “Best Practices in Science based Incubation”, Auckland, New Zealand on November 29, 2011. The award was presented to Technopark TBI as recognition of outstanding achievements as an Incubator. Since 2002, The Technopolicy Network and the Centre for Strategy and Evaluation Services (CSES) have been organizing the best Science Based Incubator Awards.

 Technopark TBI, by establishing Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Centres (IEDCs) across the Engineering Colleges in the state has created an entrepreneurial revolution in the state by creating an eco-system and a fertile ground to promote innovation and entrepreneurship. As on date T-TBI have incubated 123 start-up technology companies with a success rate of over 95%. T-TBI bagged the National Best Incubator Award in the year 2007 and T-TBI companies have bagged more than a dozen awards during 2010-11.

The winners were chosen based on 22 quantitative indicators capturing different aspects of performance, good practice examples and the opinion of the international jury. The performance indicators were based on Return on Investment (RoI), sustainability and performance. Mr.RMP. Jawahar, President, Indian STEPs and Business Incubators Association (ISBA) was a jury member.

AMTEC starts operations from Coimbatore

AMTEC, a company graduated from Technopark TBI, Trivandrum recently has signed a MoU with The Nehru Group of Institutions for opening office inside Nehru IT Park Campus, Nehru Gardens, Kuniamuthur, Coimbatore. This is their 4^th development cum consultant office outside Technopark. The MoU was signed by Dr.P.Krishnakumar, CEO & Secretary, Nehru Group and Mr. M.N.Shajahan, Chairman  & MD, AMTEC in the presence of Dr. K.C. Chandrasekharan Nair, Secretary and Registrar, Technopark TBI, Trivandrum on Dec 10, 2011. Mr. K. Sasidharan, Administrator, Technopark Club, Mr. Sreejith. S, Technical Officer, T-TBI, Dr. B.Anirudhan, Principal, Nehru Arts & Science College were present. AMTEC will start animation related games development activities in the Thrissur and Palakkad campuses soon. They will also support students with live project assignments in these centres.

National Faculty Development Programme held

National Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (NCIIE), the training arm of Technopark TBI in association with EDII Ahmedabad with the support of NSTEDB, Department of Science & Technology (DST) Govt of India conducted a National Faculty Development Program (FDP) designed to train and develop professionals in the area of Entrepreneurship Development in Technopark from Nov 28-Dec 9, 2011. The trained KRP’s will guide and motivate young students, particularly from science, engineering and technology stream, to take up entrepreneurship as their career. The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr.K.C.Chandrasekharan Nair, Secretary  & Registrar, Technopark TBI in the presence of Shri. V.S. Sukumaran, Course Director, EDII. Faculties from various Engineering colleges from Kerala, Tamilnadu and Karnataka participated in the training.

Rotary International Vocational Award to Dr. K.C.C Nair

Dr.K.C.Chandrasekharan Nair, Secretary & Registrar, Technopark TBI has been bestowed upon with this years’ Rotary International Vocational Award at a function of the Rotary Club at Mar Ivanious College, Nalanchira, Trivandrum on Dec 11, 2011. The award was given in honour of his contributions towards nurturing Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship initiatives among the student community by his activities in Technopark TBI. He has virtually created a conducive eco-system in Technopark TBI backed by excellent business partners to ensure that every entrepreneur that comes in through the incubator route becomes successful.  Rtn. MPHF. P.G. Muraleedharan presented the Award to Dr. KCC Nair in the presence of Rtn.RFSM.C.P.Bhadrakumar & Rtn.PHF. B.S Bhasi.

It is also aimed to set an example to others, particularly youth, of the need to strive for VOCATIONAL EXCELLENCE for the benefit of the needy.”

OpenERP for Educational Institutions from ZestyBeanz

ZestyBeanz Technologies, incubated by Technopark TBI, launched its new OpenERP based solution for Educational Institutions – “Total Automation Solution for Educational Institutions” . In a grand ceremony at  Govt: Engineering College Sreekrishnapuram, hosted by the college itself, Honorable Minister for Public Works Shri V K Ibrahim Kunju, officially launched the product.

The solution, framed using OpenERP, one of the fastest growing Open Source ERPs, aims to automate an institution’s academic and administration activities involving Students, Teachers, Departments, Libraries and Administrative staffs. Around 800 users will have access to the system with their own login. The project, which involves participation of some selected students of the institution,  is being carried out by ZestyBeanz as a part of the nation-wide movement aimed at educational institutions in imparting value addition through practical learning for students apart from what they get through theoretical learning. When the product/solution go commercial, a portion of the profit will be shared with the students involved.

TePP Funding sanctioned

 The 106^th TSC meeting held at Delhi on 16.08.2011 has sanctioned a TePP Phase 1 funding of 15 Lakhs to Dr. K. R. Suresh K. Nair for the project ‘Development of Portable, Non-invasive Oral Cancer Detection System’. He is the MD of Innobreeze Communication Technologies, Ernakulam.

Intelligo Technologies

Intelligo Technologies, a rapidly growing IT Services company, has started operations from Smart Business Centre at the Thejaswini building, Technopark. Their new facility was inaugurated by Dr. K C Chandrashekaran Nair, CFO, Technopark on November 10, 2011. Founded in 2006 by group of seven IT professionals, Intelligo Technologies is a leading service provider in creating salesoriented, ROI driven web and PC based enterprise level applications. Intelligo Technologies has a wide range of offerings in software development, web designing, mobile development, consulting and training. Their offerings are available in the market as products as well as in ‘Software as a Service’ (SaaS) mode. Mr. Mahesh  Kanniyappan and Mr. Abdul Salam are the Directors.

New Chairman for T-TBI

Mr.K G Girish Babu, took over as the Chairman of Technopark TBI on Dec 1, 2011. He is the Managing Director of Kerala State IT Infrastructure Ltd. (KSITIL) and also holds the additional charge of the CEO of Cyberpark, Kozhikode.He was also the founder CEO of Infopark Kochi.

SE Mentor Solutions that powers the Technopark Software Engineering Competency Centre (TSECC) celebrated their 4th Birthday and commemorated the milestone with a celebration with employees which was named as ‘Spandhanam 2011’ on Nov 19, 2011 at Udaya Samudra Resort, Kovalam, Trivandrum. Founded in 2007 SE Mentor has grown into leading company with several IBM Rational certified professionals and is on the path of expanding its horizons and emerging as a MNC. SE Mentor is one of the best in class by providing clients with optimum solutions in Software Engineering and is an Authorized Training Provider for IBM.
