One day seminar on “Free Software Buiness – New Paradigm for Technology Entrepreneurship with Free Software”

Technopark Technology Business Incubator (T-TBI) in association with Society for Promoting Alternative Computing and Employment (SPACE) Kerala is organizing a one day seminar on Free Software Business – New Paradigm for Technology Entrepreneurship with Free Software on Monday, March 30th at 11:00am in Travancore Hall, Park Centre, Technopark​.

The seminar will have sessions by 4 eminent Speakers namely

1. Mr Abhas Abhinav, Founder, DeepRoot Linux

Mr Abhas Abhinav, who, in August 2000, founded DeepRoot Linux, a Bangalore-based GNU/Linux free software business, to quench his passion to work on free and open source software (FOSS) and to develop an entire ecosystem of products, solutions and support around FOSS.

2. Mr Rushabh Mehta, Founder ERPNext/ Frappe Technologies

ERPNext helps small businesses worldwide (in more than 60 countries now) to manage their operations better, to give them better insight into what is happening in their companies and become more efficient. The product itself is free and we make money by providing cloud hosting and other services around the product.

3. Mr Gautam Shankar, CEO, GESInfotek

Orisys to digitize 7500 libraries in Kerala

Orisys Consultancy Services LLP, a company incubated in Technopark Technology Business Incubator Initiates modernization of 7500 libraries in Kerala. The project is being done in association with Kerala State Library Council (KSLC).  The Kerala State Library Council (KSLC) is going in for a much-needed modernization drive, making it possible for readers in any part of the world to search and locate books in the 7,500 libraries which come under it. The Online Integrated Library Management Solution is inaugurated on March 20 by Ms Sugathakumari, renowned Poetess and environmentalist at Government Guest House, Thycaud, Trivandrum and the detailed catalogs of all books will soon be available on the website www.kslc.in.

Once this system is implemented, the public can search and locate the books that they want. Some of our libraries have rare books in their collection, which are valuable as reference materials. In addition to the main website, each library will have a separate homepage and they will be provided separate logins. They can edit and customize their home pages. The back-end operations, including the cataloging, have been started and the entire collection will be up online in a few weeks. Its one of the worlds largest movement towards the modernization and digitization of libraries

Koha- an open source Integrated Library System is being used for bringing the  7500 libraries under one roof.

“Set your standards high” says Mr C Balagopal, Founder Terumo Penpol

Meet the Mentor with Mr C Balagopal, Founder Terumo Penpol was held on March 21, in Malabar Hall Technopark. Meet the Mentor is a series of mentoring sessions organized by Technopark Technology Business Incubator (T-TBI) wherein startups and students interact with eminent entrepreneurs in the country.

In the session Mr Balagopal narrated stories on efforts, hardship & success that he faced while setting up the company. He also explained about the various incidents that he had to encounter and also how he tackled it.

To summarize: the 5 tips from the mentor to entrepreneurs and startups were:

  1. Set your standards high
  2. Create a culture of risk taking within the organisation
  3. Create a culture of spreading bad news within the company faster
  4. Building trust/ good relation among the team members
  5. Rising from the fall

There was an interaction session subsequently wherein various aspects like team building, funding, networking and specific questions on Japanese partners were discussed.
