BarCamp Kerala 5 @ Technopark on May 3


Technopark is gearing up for the 5th Edition of BarCamp Kerala.  Barcamp, an ad-hoc gathering rooted in the desire to share and learn in an open & friendly environment is an intense yet cool, event with discussions, demos, and strong interactions.

 Barcamp 5 will consist of a series of sessions, mostly related to the latest technologies or trends and it provides a platform for networking with people of similar thinking. Barcamp is an informal gathering of all people interested in Computers, Gadgets, Internet and technology!

International Seminar on “IGNITING YOUNG MINDS” held at Technopark on April 3, 2009



A programme jointly organized by National Institute  of Personnel Management (NIPM), Trivandrum Chapter , Thangal Kunju Musaliar Institute of Management (TKMIM),  Kollam , and Technopark TBI . The overall objective of the programme is to ignite the young minds of students and prospective entrepreneurs to be Job Creators. The one day programme happening on 3rd April 2009 will have  sessions on ‘ Igniting Young Minds to be Job Creators ’ and   ‘Employability enhancement of Young Management Graduates ’ in the Current  Economic Scenario targeted at the students and the prospective entrepreneurs

The ‘Igniting Young Minds’ programme  aims at helping management aspirants and young managers find the common link between management of self, choosing a career path and achieving the right work environment. The programme aimed at helping the students manage their career expectations and join their careers armed with confidence and experience

The programme was inaugurated by Mr.M.Venugopal,  CEO and MD Federal Bank in a function presided over by Mr. Shahal Hassan Musaliar, Chairman, TIM . Mr.Andrew Wong, President, National Incubation Network Association, Malaysia was the Chief guest. Dr G C Gopala Pillai, Managing Director, INKEL delivered the special address. Mr. G L Muraleedharan,   Chairman NIPM, Tvm Chapter, Prof. T. Abdul Karim Musaliar, Executive Director, TIM and Mr. K C Chandrasekharan Nair, Hon. Secretary, NIPM Trivandrum Chapter were present.

Inaugurating the programme Mr. Venugopal said that seminar shall serve as source of motivation to the ignite the young students to dream and set their goals higher . Mr Wong shared his experiences in leading an Incubator in Malaysia with the participants. The speakers through their inspiring words ignited the minds of the students and other participants which was a perfect ice breaking for the one day seminar.

There were two panel discussion session one  on ‘ Igniting Young Minds to be Job Creators’  for which the speakers were Dr. Andrew Wong, President, NINA, Malaysia and  Mr. Umesh Kamath, Head HR, Allianz Cornhill, Technopark, TVM. The session was moderated by Dr.G.C.Gopalapillai

The second session was on ‘Employability enhancement of Young Management Graduates ’’ for which the speakers were Mr. Sunil Gupta, CEO, Collabera, Technopark, Mr. Lalitha Prasad, Corporate Learning Centre Head, TCS,  Technopark and   Mr Anil Kumar C S, VP, Reliance Fresh, Kochi. The session was moderated by Prof. A. M. Salim, Chairman, Federal Bank.

Technopark TBI extension centre in Garden City College Bangalore


An Entrepreneurship Development Cell & an Extension Centre of Technopark TBI has been formally inaugurated at Garden City College (GCC), Bangalore on 7th March, 2009 in the College Auditorium with the support of Technopark, Trivandrum

 TBI shall be extending all sorts of support to GCC for co-ordinating the effective conduct of the Entrepreneurship Development Activities and also the required expert guidance and mentoring for proper functioning of the T-TBI Extension Centre. 

 Mr.K.C.Chandrasekharan Nair, CFO Technopark & Secretary cum Registrar, Technopark TBI inaugurated the EDC & the T-TBI Extension Centre . Prof. V.B. Coutinho, President- Governing Council, GCC presided over the function along with college principal Dr. John.K.C. Mr. Sreejith. S , Technical Officer , T-TBI  was also present.

 Inaugurating the EDC & the T-TBI Extension Centre Mr.K.C.Chandrasekharan Nair, CFO Technopark & Secretary cum Registrar, Technopark TBI said that the major objective of forming the EDC is to promote Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the campus and also to exploit and effectively convert the skills and expertise within the institute to create entrepreneurial ventures. The TBI Extension Centre shall function to incubate the entrepreneurs in Life Sciences and IT/ ITES.  He pointed out that “Technopark, through the T-TBI EC initiative, shall be creating an ecosystem and a fertile ground that promotes the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship “. The start up companies incubated by GCC shall be fully supported by Technopark TBI and will be given an opportunity to graduate into the Technopark Incubation Facilities for further scaling up.

Prof. V.B. Coutinho pointed out that the initiative of establishing an EDC & T-TBI EC in GCC shall be a source motivation to the Students to dream and set their goals higher. He pointed out the examples of many successful alumni entrepreneurs who built their empire from no where. About a dozen of Alumni entrepreneurs attended the inaugural ceremony and addressed the gathering and enlightened them by sharing their entrepreneurial experiences.

Technopark-TBI aims to identify potential entrepreneurs with innovative ideas in the region through GCC, nurture them through different phases of growth, until the business takes off to a maturity level, where it becomes a financially sustainable Venture. For further scaling up they will be allowed to relocate to Technopark, Trivandrum.

Technopark TBI has identified Two start up companies Catalyz Life Technologies with      Dr. Biju Jacob as CEO and Dataway Solutions with Mr.Vikas Srivastava as CEO for incubating in the T-TBI EC of Garden City College.

Catalyz is a molecular diagnostics company  that is developing proprietary molecular diagnostic tests for diseases with unmet clinical needs and large commercial opportunities . Catalyz is leveraging expertise in nanotechnology, molecular biology, immunology & integrated medicine with medical doctors and researchers to develop  next generation diagnostic applications. Catalyz has identified a huge market for molecular genomics and diagnostics that enable and enhance the advancement of various therapeutic options through Prognosis, Prevention, and Treatment.

 Dataway Solution established in 2009 with a mission to become leading provider of security products, services and solutions that focus on Trusted Computing Standards. Dataway strongly believes that there is a big market getting ready to embrace this emerging standards.Dataway aims to develop security framework based on its IPs and then develop applications targeting Mobile Applications- LBS and Mobile Payment, end point security solution for PC, Network Solutions, Defense and Medical device.Dataway Solution plans to expand on other technologies and develop end-to-end products and solutions in the future.

An Entrepreneurship Development Cell & an Extension Centre of Technopark TBI has been formally inaugurated at TKM Institute of Management on March 4, 2009 in the College Auditorium with the support of Technopark, Trivandrum. Inaugurating the EDC Mr. C. Balagopal, MD, Terumo Penpol pointed out the importance of and EDC in guiding the prospects to mold them into successful entrepreneurs. Mr. K.C. Chandrasekharan Nair, CFO, Technopark & Secretary cum Registrar,Technopark-TBI felicited the gathering and interacted with the students on various aspects of entrepreneurship, the support offered by Technopark TBI and the various funding option available for the Innovators

Ms.Surya took a session on  Entrepreneurship Development & Support’, focusing on the incubation activities, entrepreneurship development cells and the financial support schemes of Technopark-TBI and Technopark-TePP Outreach Centre .The seminar was organized as part their techno-cultural meet ‘PIONIORA 09’ on 25 th  Feb 2009 organised by the Association

Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp @ NIT Calicut

audience                   kcc-sir-during-inaugu                 Kozhikode: A two day Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp, sponsored by Indian Society for Technical Education was jointly organized by the Department of Training and Placement and Technology Business Incubator of NITC on 21-22 February, 2009. A total of 55 students registered for the program. Secretary cum Registrar & CFO-Technopark, Mr. K.C. Chandrasekharan Nair inaugurated the Camp on February 21, 2009, in a function over which, the Registrar of the Institute presided. ‘Camp Objectives and General Concepts of Entrepreneurship’ was presented by Dr. T.K. Suresh Babu, Professor & Head of the Dept of Training & Placement. . Mr. K. C. Chandrasekharan Nair and Mr. Sreejith (Technical Officer, Technopark TBI) engaged a session on ‘Present Economic Scenario & Relevance of Entrepreneurship’. Mr. A.V. Francis, Former Sr. Project Leader gave a talk on “Importance of Creativity & Communication for Better Result”.  The second day had three sessions, the first one engaged by Dr. Suresh Babu, on the Financial Aspects of starting a business. Mr. K.T. Job, Senior Faculty Associate, Centre for Management Development, Trivandrum, gave the participants some lessons on opportunity identification and importance of quality. The afternoon session had two successful entrepreneurs, Mr. Duleep Sahadevan (Calicut Forum for IT) and Mr. Damodar Avanoor (Deputy CEO, Chethana Pharmaceuticals) to share their experiences. Interesting and informative discussions with the participants followed. All the lectures were well appreciated by the students. On the whole, the program was beneficial to the students to gain information on entrepreneurship and hopefully, will help a good percentage of them to consider it as an alternate career option.

National Seminar in Kerala University

dsc00018The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of the University of Kerala conducted a one day National Seminar on Technology-based entrepreneurship in association with Kerala State council for Science, Technology & Environment (KSCSTEC) on February 20, 2009 at the Senate Chamber, University of Kerala. The Seminar was inaugurated by Dr. E.P.Yesodharan, Exec. Vice President- KSCSTEC. Dr.K.S. Chandrasekhar, Co-ordinator, ED Cell, Kerala University welcomed the guests. Mr. K.C Chandrasekharan Nair, Secretary Cum Registrar, Technopark TBI delivered the keynote address. Er. Binuja Thomas, Scientific Officer, KSCSTE proposed the vote of thanks.
